Valentine’s Day 2009

Dalby has been experiencing some very bad thunderstorms these couple of days, hence we have to keep our Vday celebration a simple affair. We merely exchanged cards (that's the best we can get here) and I made some salad and sandwiches..very picnic feel again..

The salad was really too much...

Brisbane & Sunshine Coast Trip
Post Trip

3D2N is really not enough to cover Brisbane..I din even get to shop much. We spent too much time getting lost. Brisbane roads are quite messy and loads of time, you cant make any turns or U turns if you miss a spot..gotta turn one big round. Luckily, our housemates lent us their GPS (and we still got lost even we got the GPS..lol)

Then back home, I’m sorting out the tourist leaflets…and I realise I got so much of them. Take a look. I just ‘collected’ them whenever I visit a tourist information stop. No wonder Gavin’s so disgusted with my brochures..haha
My next aim: Gold Coast! I already got the brochures ready!

Brisbane & Sunshine Coast Trip
27 Jan to 29 Jan 2009
DAY 3

South Bank
Just opposite Brisbane CBD

Wheel of Brisbane

Griffin University

Nepalese Pagoda..the wood carvings are so intricate.

QUT right across the river, I think that’s where my 2nd sister studied last time.

Queensland Musuem

Some exbihits are really impressive even though it’s free entry. I was almost expecting to see some boring pictures and displays. Even those who are not museum fans should go take a look.

I particularly liked the Musuem Zoo, some animals can really get real huge…

Lunch at The Three Monkeys. Great ambience for couples and groups. The cake is great too. I will definitely recommend to anyone who’s going to Brisbane. Budget eats with nice ambience.

Direct Factory Outlet- Retail Therapy Time!LOL.Gavin bought me a Roxy summer dress and two small bags. Time to head back for Dalby, arrgh..I wish I can stay longer.

Brisbane & Sunshine Coast Trip
27 Jan to 29 Jan 2009
DAY 2

Set off for Sunshine Coast

Glasshouse Mountains Lookout We saw this along the way. How suay is that car plate? The Peanut Van, Ettamogah Pub and Aussie World Fish and chips for lunch by the harbour. Standard. Lol
At Moololaba Harbour. The people living there actually have their yacht parked outside their house. Wow. Now, that’s LUXURY.

Underwater World.

Then to The Big Pineapple.

The Pineapple is really BIG. There’s even a mini-museum inside.

Brisbane & Sunshine Coast Trip
27 Jan to 29 Jan 2009
DAY 1

As part of CNY celebrations, Gavin and I went to Brisbane and Sunshine Coast for a 3D2N trip. It was very nice of Gavin to sponsor the whole trip..I merely paid our lunch and that’s it.

Warrego Wines. As usual, we bought a wine. A very sweet white wine.

After 3 hours drive, we finally reached! Brisbane CBD..the parking rates are exorbitant. We parked for 1.5 hours and it’s already $31 bucks. We even checked out 3 parking places before parking. I’m horrified. I cant even stayed longer for some city shopping. How did the Brisbane people survive?

The tired face..haha..from three hours of non-stop driving.

Lunch at Little Singapore

Our 999th Day Anniversary Celebration Part 4
19 January 2009
Toowoomba Day Trip

Dinner
Anyway, time to head home. We din managed to get a wine from the winery, so we just went to a wine drive-through (yes, it’s the wine version of mac drive through ..haha) to get one.

A Houghton White Classic. (We missed the Houghton winery the other time in Perth, hence we tried out this) It was quite good actually, but of course not as good as the John Kosovich one which sadly reminds me how the custom officer threw the wine away right in front of my face.

I made this dinner myself! Wahaha.
Panfry Pork Cutlets and Tuscan sasuage served with sweet potato thins and green spinach salad greens (the salad yucks..so bitter) with french dressing.

Gift Exchange Time

Haha..I got a red polo t-shirt for the ban dang guy.
It does complement his car plate number (GAV888)..hahha..more eights!
Just in time for CNY too.

Our 999th Anniversary Certificate that I made myself. (The intended fabric certificate holder project failed miserably; hence I just gave up and bought a frame instead.lol)

The celebration was a great success, even though the park’s barren and the winery closed, but I still think it was the best so far, considering I got a bunch of flower buds on our 100th Day Celebration, 1st Anniverary I got ‘Dear, I din get anything for you leh, you mind anot’, 2nd Anniversary, we were basically in cold war and we were both in different countries.

I guess an anniversary celebration doesn’t require fancy restaurants and expensive gifts everytime..my picnic and home made dinner made this anniversary make it very special for us too.

Looking forward to our 3rd Anniversary this April.

Our 999th Day Anniversary Celebration Part 3
19 January 2009
Toowoomba Day Trip

Cobb+Co Museum

It’s a museum that houses the National Carriage collection. It’s like seeing Australia on the move 100 years ago.

Windmill. It’s so pretty.

And a cute vintage Beetle.

I’m in Toowoomba!

It’s the kids play ground I’m right now. Luckily there are no other kids around. What I can say is Gavin is somewhat disgusted. Haha.

Argh..real animal skin. What a horrible way to die.

The Mega Fauna Section.

There are some prehistoric giants that actually roamed Toowoomba 1.8 million years ago.

The display animals are the interactive kind, it sorts of move when you moved past them. Which freaks me out. Haha.

I almost tot it will stand up and bite off my hand or something. I was quite freaked out by this one. How will I know how interactive it is?

I’m an archaeologist! It’s really real dinosaur bone. Not fake replica leh.
